Rethus Broadacre
We’re getting 80% more done per hour!
Tim Rethus is a grain grower based in Horsham, Australia, where he runs Rethus Broadacre alongside his father and brother. Together, they represent the third generation of farmers in the area, growing a variety of rain-fed crops. The team also includes three full-time employees, with clearly defined roles: Tim’s brother specializes in seeding, Tim manages all the spraying and during harvest, he teams up with his father to get the job done.
Efficiency is key
For the Rethus family, operational efficiency was a key consideration when choosing a new sprayer. “The Agrifac Endurance is delivering around 40% more hectares per tank compared to our previous sprayer, thanks to its larger tank capacity. It’s also much wider, we’re running about 30% more boom width, which means we’re now operating 80% more efficiently. We’re getting 80% more done per hour with this unit than before!” Tim explains.
Ready for the future of farming
Their Endurance 2 is equipped with the latest in spraying technology, positioning the Rethus family at the forefront of precision agriculture. Their machine features AiCPlus individual camera spot spraying technology and StrictSprayPlus, the pulse width modulation system, giving them the tools to spray smarter and more efficiently. This year, PWM turn compensation has proven especially effective, particularly when paired with the AiCPlus system.
A 750 liter rinse tank, fully controllable from the cab, allows the team to efficiently perform green-on-brown applications, saving thousands of liters of glyphosate. These targeted capabilities have led to substantial cost savings and with in-crop spraying now fully optimized, the team is focusing more on in-crop weed spraying, reducing chemical use and avoiding off-target application.
Support in the field
Choosing Agrifac was a strategic move for the Rethus family, combining the latest technology with dependable product support. “We were confident the product support would be there when choosing Agrifac. The technicians we work with now are incredibly knowledgeable. We’re getting more out of every hectare, not just through better yields but by reducing crop loss from wheel tracks and by lowering input costs. Long term, we’re building a more sustainable business model, keeping weed pressure down by consistently doing the optimum job. At this stage, I wouldn’t change our Agrifac sprayer for anything. We loved our first one so much, we went for a second. That speaks for itself!” Tim says.
Their satisfaction with Agrifac’s performance and support reflects their commitment to efficient, profitable and sustainable farming, now and into the future.
